Biography:

A native of Savannah, Dr. Misal Patel grew up close to his father’s business and developed a connection to Savannah. As he watched his hard-working and passionate father provide service to his community, he knew at a young age that one day he would also help others. Dr. Patel decided his pathway to do just that is through medicine and preventive care.

His interest in medicine began at an early age after experiencing side effects of anesthesia used to sedate him during his oral surgery. He wanted to learn the technicalities of what he was feeling and why. To do just that, he knew he needed to become a physician. Furthermore, Dr. Patel is dedicated to maintaining a healthy lifestyle and instilling these values upon his patients.

He started off his medical career by receiving his Bachelor of Science in Microbiology at the University of Georgia in Athens, GA. Following, he completed his Doctor of Medicine degree at the Mercer University School of Medicine in Savannah, GA. Finally, he attended his residency in internal medicine at the Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, GA. While earning his education, Dr. Patel demonstrated exceptional leadership through his residency as Chief Resident. He was involved in multiple research posters, led many presentations, and was awarded the Memorial Health University IM PGY-2 Resident of the Year Award among other accolades.

“The most rewarding aspect of my role as a physician is building life-long relationships with my patients and helping them through any hardships,” Dr. Patel said. “I strive to create a family environment among my patients and office staff. My primary focus is preventive care and management of chronic diseases to be able to maximize the quality of life no matter the diagnoses. This is why I chose primary care; it’s rewarding, creates lasting relationships and trust, and provides the satisfaction of truly making a difference for my community.”

Outside of the office, Dr. Patel is absorbed by wanderlust, especially with his wife with whom he has traveled to many parts of the world. His grandparents live in India, so yearly visits are a must. Dr. Patel and his wife also welcomed their first child, a son, summer of 2020.

Dr. Patel enjoys the weight room and his passion for exercising in the community gym. Being able to interact with community members is an integral part of his daily routine.
