Biography:

Dr. Catherine Waldron, a Georgia native from St. Simons Island, was drawn to healthcare from a young age. Driven to make an impact in her community, she was fascinated by physician-patient relationships and the individualized aspect it brings to medicine. As a family physician, she values connecting with her patients to personalize healthcare plans that meet their lifestyle needs.

“I love getting to know the patients,” Dr. Waldron says. “I always like to try to understand and learn who they are, what makes them tick, and the best way to incorporate medicine. I tell my patients I want them to live their happiest and healthiest lives. To be a part of that journey is really rewarding.”

Dr. Waldron graduated with honors from the University of Georgia and earned a medical degree from Mercer University School of Medicine. She completed residency training at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, where she was designated as chief resident. Dr. Waldron is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the Georgia Academy of Family Physicians.

Dr. Waldron has conducted various research studies, including research involving interprofessional education using technology, patient-physician continuity, and improving type 2 diabetic foot examinations. She believes in the importance of education and patient-centered care.

“Physicians are also teachers,” she says. “It’s important to help patients understand their bodies, conditions, and treatment plans.”

In her spare time, she enjoys reading, knitting, trying new restaurants, and spending time with her dog, Sophie. She has a passion for team sports and plays volleyball and kickball with the Savannah Adult Recreation Club (SARC).
